Archibald Brand (1854-1904) was high ranking in the mining company. His presence is Little Bay is implied but not yet certain. His signature is found on the town’s request to have a Magistrate installed in 1879. There are also references suggesting he is there in June of 1880. His primary function to the company centres around Betts Cove. He married Baron Ellershausen’s daughter Emily Augusta in Nova Scotia at the end of that year. The wedding is covered in detail by the Harbour Grace Standard. Afterward he departed for New York at the request of the company. He died in England in 1904.
