Richard Hiscott (1858-1930) was a miner who was living in Little Bay from at least 1882 until 1894.

1888, Aug 17 – Richard Hiscott married to Eliza Earle by Rev. Pittman. Richard was 30 years old. He was a widower and worked as a miner. Eliza was 27 years old. They lived at Shoal Arm, Little Bay. The wedding was witnessed by Eli Wyatt and Henry Luffman (Vit stats)

1893, July – Birth of John Joseph Hiscott. Parents Richard and Eliza Jane (Earle) Hiscott. He was a miner. They were of the Church of England.

1893 – Richard Hiscott at Little Bay Harbour (Voter’s list)

1894 – Richard Hiscott was a fisherman at Little Bay Harbour. Many miners had switched into fishing due to a lack of work at the mine (McAlpine’s)

1895 – Living at Tilt Cove based on children’s births (Vit stats). This move was likely motivated by work as Tilt Cove had an active mine.

1907 – Dolcie Hiscott was married at Tilt Cove

The Hiscott family moved from Tilt Cove to Bell Island. Again this was likely due to them seeking mining work.
